KMG stating that there are actually some nice Bini's around? Was that a Pig with wings I spotted out the window.

It was a Navy Blue 89 D Sportpack style mini. I never realised there was conflict between classic and modern :(

KMG hasn't room to fart in his garage with all the projects he's working on, let alone put a modern car in there. Shur aren't we all jealous?

Ah Mark,

You can't be writing one thing on miniclub.ie and then letting on on this forum today that you never realised there were preferences between modern and classic:

posted by starrywalsh on miniclub.ie Jan 2nd:

"Hello to everyone new And well said Owen, there does seem to be a few fourms/clubs out there that are "stuck in the past" and dont allow every type of Mini, thats why this club is the best in the country and probably why it wins awards"

Enjoy the BIG party on Jan 26th and the MTI.

Isn't the internet world a very small place? You never know who would be looking over your shoulder!

Billy everyone has a "preference" I know that, I didn't realise there was conflict, as I said above, Preferance is not roaring out a car window at someone. I was under the impression by some of the photo's on this site that it was a mixed club, thats why I am here, no reference was made to this fourm, if you want to know the fourm in question I will gladly PM it to you.

As for the big party, it will be my first ever Mini event, and I 'm sure I will enjoy it, as I had planned to enjoy events with IMOC too, as I mentioned in a post to yourself actually very recently.

I was not aware I could only be involved with one of the clubs? I may (as u have seen) been more active on the MCOI site, but that because it is a busier site, anyone who wishes to check will see the same questions asked on both sites. I may have just recently joined the MCOI too as a "full" member, and the plan was to join here too, but nothing is on the site yet reguarging 2008 membership and I have NEVER mentioned either club on the other site.

And here is what I said on this club on the 1th Jan -

"I'll have to join the club for this year Billy then hopefully I can get out on some runs

Mini66 I would ask some of the more experienced club members here to recommend someone to work on your friends Mini, they seem to have an amazing knowledge of everything to do with Mini's"

Firstly to reply to Black Sevens comment.I do thing that there are some nice binis out, mostly those with the aero kit as I think the bini one is rank because they are so plain looking. As regards the garage being a bini free area, thats my choice as I would perfer the original to the bini any day.Sit into 100 different minis and drive them and each will have its own character, quirks, rattles and squeaks.Drive 100 binis and you will get the same generic feel that you get from a lot of modern cars.Because some of us have not accepted the bini,we have been labeled by some narrow minded individuals as being stuck in the past, well again thats my choice and I like being in a club that is predominately mini based. This club, stuck in the past as it is and with all it,s faults is here for people that want to spent a little time enjoying their cars and each others company with no business agenda.Members of this club have organised the IMM in the past and organise two of the biggest mini events south of the border in the MTM and the National Mini Day every year as well as many other events so feel free anytime to step back into the past and join us sometime, you might be pleasantly surprised, though flares and mullets are optional. This club accepts both but I would be lying if I said there are alot of bini owners here,I know of only a few.By the way Starry,I see that you have joined miniresource today,It,s a good site and don,t be afraid to post, there are plenty of people on it from around your neck of the woods.

Firstly, I am not narrow minded, thank you, Just to say Billys quote from me from the other site has no mention of this club. And my preference is also for the classic mini, but am looking into newer mini's........... I was re-directed to MiniResource by "1275gt" after putting a picture of my Mini up on "Boards.ie" I got time to join it today, and hopefully intend toget out with them guys too, it was nice to get the invite from the guy on boards.ie.... I don't mind my topic's on all fourms being "monitered" ,thats why they are public.

Starry,If I gave the impression that I was calling you narrow minded I apologise. It is other people that have levelled this complaint at some of us classic minded owners for not rushing out and buying a bini.Fair play to 1275gt for redirecting you.Check out his gt on MR,its under the benny blanco heading in the "my mini" section of MR,worst car on the site :mrgreen:Also, nice to see another auto mini here,my 74 estate is a 1000 auto, one leg driving is the way to go.

Well said Dave.

I think that you will see a lot more people buying second hand BMW MINIs from now on. The original cars are now 7 years old and if you compare the prices, a 2002 BMW MINI will cost you as little a £5500 sterling which is less then the asking price of most 2000 Mini Cooper Sports Packs.
