Finally got the Group2 arches fitted on Saturday (Thanks Johnny & Alan) but they're fiddly and there were two main problems:

1. The chrome strip supplied with them by Somerford doesn't cover the lip fully so that the lip on each arch has to be trimmed;
2. The Hornet front bumper needs to be shaved at the end to accommodate the arches. Cutting the bumper is the lesser of two evils and will probably be less notable. To have the car presentable for the Paddy's Day Parade, we fitted a standard Mini bumper but it should all be back to normal next week.

The car itself is running great and did about 40 miles, including a slow parade, with no issues.

Still some tweaking before the IMM though.

With just 4 weeks to go to the ferry to France for IMM2013, yesterday's Charleville Run was the perfect opportunity to give the Hornet a shakedown and test the new hood. First of all, despite the heavy rain and wind, the hood didn't leak at all which is great. The passenger foot well had a bad leak but when I got home and removed the carpet, there was a grommet missing which is an easy fix. New poly tiebar bushes sharpened up the steering so the car handled fine all day on some lovely twisty roads. I'll need to get the tracking done though. The indicators stopped working during the day but it looks like the flasher relay which again is an easy fix.

Slowly getting there. Hope to find time to get the chrome strip on. The Group 2 arches have a very wide lip so they need filing/cutting back so that the chrome strip fits snug. It's not a showstopper but it would complete the look.

Definitely more confident about bringing the Hornet to Italy after yesterday's 113 mile round trip.

Now to fix those few bits.

A flasher unit sorted the indicators and a grommet sorted the floor leak. Been using the Hornet for commuting to work and it's driving fine.

This day 3 weeks, we'll be arriving in Cherbourg!

When you turn on the heater fan, there's enough steam for a sauna so a good heater unit was collected from Minifix last night and will be fitted in the next few days before the IMM.
