Because MTM next year is on the same month as IMM2008 in Holland, I thought it would be worthwhile getting people thinking about both events as early as possible.

Who here is driving (not flying) to Holland?
What's the best route?
How long should it take?

Here's the official site http://www.imm2008.nl

Billy,

Myself and Woody are displaying interest in going to the 2008 IMM in Holland. Early discussions are focusing on which Hornet to bring (build and bring).

The closing date for entries for IMM2008 is February 1st. Who in the club is taking the entries?

Will the general membership be made aware of this event or is it restricted to just those with access to this forum? (vey loaded question!)

Ferry prices are out, the most resonable so far is Stena Landbridge going Dublin/Holyhead-Dover Calais return which works out at €280 for car + 1, there would be an extra €60 suppliment if you wanted the Fast ferry option.

Norfolk Line do the Dover/Dunkerque return for €68.50,

Crossing the Irish Sea with Irish Ferrys, slow €228.90, fast €260.40
Stena slow, €220, fast €250

All based on Car+1 and no cabins.

The entry fee for the IMM is €70 for Adults & children over 13 years old.
Kids 6-13 the fee is €35, under 6 years old are FREE.

You also need to factor in petrol costs for a round trip of about 2000Km (1200 miles), food and beverages, 2 nights camping along the way .

Depending on Ferry times you are looking at about 7 day long trip.

For those who don't feel like camping the Apollo Hotel Lelystad are doing a special offer of 3 nights B+B for 2 people sharing a room for €207.

Hotel Lelystad Airport will charge you €273 for the same deal.

The Apollo is 7 Km from the IMM site, the Airport is 400m from the IMM site.

Those wanting a little more might want to choose the Heerlickheijd van Ermelo 14 KM away who will do 3 nights B+B for €680 for two persons sharing.

If you wish to book an Hotel, I suggest you do so soon as the closer options may fill up early.

Great info and should give people who use this forum a realistic idea of the budget for the event.

Getting back to my original queries:

1. Who is our own club co-ordinator i.e taking the money?
2. Will the vast majoity of the paid-up club members who don't use this forum be told all this info, and if not, why not?

Billy,
I will be acting as booking agent for the Clubs attendance at this years IMM.
I am in the proscess of getting a mail shot ready to send to all members, it will be going in with the AGM notification, the ER change of Monthly Meeting, the membership renewal form.

The Club booking form is there to help the administration end of things in Holland, however it does mean that you have to pay upfront with cash/cheque and you are unable to pay via credit card, which some people like to do to avail of the extra time to pay, especially after Christmas. Members are free to book on their own if they wish, but doing so will cost a little extra.

I am researching different routes, as some members who have already expressed an interest were considering the Harriwch-Hook Van Holland route, as it entailed less driving and eliminated the need for an overnight stay in France or Belgium on the way out and possibly in England on the way back. I am also looking into the possibility of going via Rosslare for any members going from the Southern Reigon.

As the IMOC IMM convoy will be passing very close to MiniSport, would anyone be interested in stopping by for a rolling road session? It would probably mean starting a day earlier which wouldn't be a problem for me.
