Can anyone recommend a good honest mechanic in the waterford area? My 1980 austin needs some minor things done.

Hi Starrywalsh,
Liam O'Connor in Ballylooby, Cahir had loads of experience working on Minis in England for years, he's done some stuff for me - he and his wife run Minibitz, (
http://www.minibitzdirect.com). Billy O'Connell in Clashmore knows his way around a Mini too (024 96415), but being female, I might not be the best judge as anyone who can fix my car is a God amongst men! They were both nice to their dogs so thats how I judged them..ha ha

Hi Womble,
Your actually the 3rd person who recommended MINIBITZ, I have spoken to them on the phone, and I'm going up there Saturday to discuss some changes to my mini.

If it were mine I'd be losing the headlamp peaks and the chrome arches.
Colour coded W&P arches would look good.
How much is the respray costing you ?

I have to ring a guy back Friday for price, Minibitz in Cahir is who I am dealing with. I am going for black group two arches chrome trim, the roof is also being changed to black.

Hopefully it will have been worth the wait.
Have you to rebuild it now?
Will it be ready for MTM2008??

Nice car you have there Mark.Hope the wait was worth it and enjoy builing it up.There,s nothing like getting your hands dirty on a nice project like that.As regards the headlamp peaks,it,s a matter of taste and personal choice and is that not what driving a mini is all about.

Hi Starrywalsh,
Hope you got your Mini back ok and that you were happy with the job done? I'd be interested to hear how you got on...
My Mini is making a "noise", I know I have to investigate it but am dreading it too and I'm not sure who the best person to go to would be. Here goes...

Hi womble,
I am happy with the work that was done, however there was alot promised that was not done, some silly annoying things to like the old badges were put back on after the respray and take away from the look

I have ordered smoother ride kit and some other parts too from the net, and will now have to get them sorted... by someone different.

I'll have to join the club for this year Billy then hopefully I can get out on some runs
Mini66 I would ask some of the more experienced club members here to recommend someone to work on your friends Mini, they seem to have an amazing knowledge of everything to do with Mini's

hi 66,
i have had my 95 sprite in a local garage in clonmel a few times over the years, mostly basic servicing and sorting out the usual gear linkage seal.
they were mini dealers way back early 70s and the mechanic is still working there, or was ,, can check it out and she can ask for a quote on word before it gets done..
let me know if you need more info
