they can be made to work: however, conventional wisdom would be that twin 1 1/2 su's on a standard 1275 would be to much carb. although they look and sound wonderful.
really to make the most of them you would need a stage 3 head, manifold and exhaust, in my opinion.

Don't forget you'll need a pair of air filters or a Twin carb airbox and filters, do you know what the carbs were originally on ? Is there a little aluminium tag on one of the dashpots with a code on it ?

price 80 euro? *really* depends on condiiton... make sure the pistons fall togehter, evenly and without binding. if they do bind not all is lost. it could be a dodgy needle or badly set up jet. and also check for hard to get bits like the linkage. oh, do make sure that its a pair of *twin* su's, not two regular SU's. there used to be a tag on the float chambers with a number which indicated where they came from. not all twin 1 1/2 SU's came from minis: some came from midgets, lots from MGB's an ive even seen them on old mk1 escorts. have you sourced a manifold for them?

If worst comes to worst, you can always get rebuild kits from Burlen, they will aslo overhaul them for you, but it can work out expensive.

While on fleabay, see if you can get yourself a Carb-balancer,i t's used to set the correct air speed through each carb. It can be done by ear, with the aid of a bit of tube, but the balancer is easier to use and more accurate.

While your at it get a petrol can too, twin carbs can drink the juice if you are a bit heavy on the right foot.

I guess I will still think about it before buying.. Stage 3 would be nice too, but there would be other carbs for that too, right?

yes, you could put a webber on it, or a pair of splt webbers.. €€€€ but really,.. where are you going with this? you will get better economy and dirveability with a stage 1 kit that includes both manifolds, and exhaust. and at €80 you are half way there. if you are re-creating a "look" then the 1 1/2 are fine.

I wouldn't rush into it Tommi, you can always pick up a set on ebay at a later stage.

TBH a well set up HIF44 is as good.

My favoret carbs.A good price if it includes manifold and linkages.
TMG should remember we got over 45 mpg on mtm and we weren't taken it too easy.I recently switched back to my twins after running a HIF 44 and deffinitly better but they must be tuned propperly to start with.

Stage 1 kit is worth 20% more power if set up correctly. I certainly felt the difference in mine. :D
