Overhaul su hif44 carb
Hi guys. Is it possible to get an overhaul kit in a good parts dealership or would I have to go to the likes of mini spares. Also is it something that your average joe would be able to take on or seek professional help, thanks. I revved it the other day and it died, it struggles to turn over now and when it does it’s running very rich so want take it apart and replace the parts

Re: Overhaul su hif44 carb
Kits are available from many places as SU carbs were used on many cars. I have rebuilt a carb in the past but in general I find a partial strip and clean is all that is required. Carbs ware over a period of time and there performance deteriorates gradually, your problem seems too sudden . Check for an air leak in gasket or breather hose. Check for oil in dashpot piston and make sure piston is moving freely.
