Mini Magic *new event*

Post by MiniMagicEvents »

Some of you might have noticed this new event launched online earlier this week and we already have had support from this very forum, of which I am grateful. Special thanks to the admin on the Facebook page for inviting us to share on the forum.

Be sure to like the Facebook page - https://www.facebook.com/minimagicevents/ to keep up-to-date and if anyone in the club would like to come along you will be welcome.

A bit about me - I'm a Mini owner myself and have competed in hillclimbs, my dad (you guessed it) raced a Mini. You might see where the passion has come from to get this up and running...and I'm delighted to say it has already inspired some people to get projects finished in time!

MINI MAGIC SET TO BE A KEY DATE

Mini fans will gather in Ireland for the inaugural Mini Magic on July 15 - an event designed to enjoy the car we feel in love with in the '50s/60s and remains a favourite to this day.

WillPromotion event director, William Neill, said: "Mini Magic will be more than a gathering. It will be time to enjoy Minis - and for those who want to - get them on track. Rally, road and race will gather to share the day of celebration together.

"We are Mini fans and owners ourselves so, after a lot of planning, to bring this together is something special. We will have our own Mini there so join us for the day."

Bring your Mini and be a part of it either on show or on track.

Early entries are encouraged and all age of Minis - and owners - will be welcome. Advance entry please for track entries.

Show and Mini park entries can enter on the day, however feel free to let us know you are coming.

The Midas, Marcos, Riley and Wolsey are all welcome too.

Apart from a date and venue your not giving away much information of what to expect on the day.
Entry price for show or show and track?
Will the track be purely minis?
How much track time?
Will there be show prizes?
Will there be autojumble or traders? (any confirmed yet?)
What time will it start and finish?
Will mini clubs be allowed set up club stands?
What numbers are you expecting?(based on what?)

Hello Woody - details are on the event website at minimagicevents.com as included in the press release.

Mini parking and show entry - 10 euro and that includes up to three passengers (as arranged with the venue). That's 2.50 euro each if you bring Mini mates onboard! There is a track viewing area.

Track entry - 95 euro. There will be a place for trailer parking. One passenger at a time on the track and 18+ only. Advance booking only for the track with entry form on the website. Maximum is 65 places for the track. Full regulations - minimagicevents.com/regs Entries already coming in...

Yes, it is for Minis. New and classic are welcome as are Mini inspired cars such as the Midas, Marcos, Wolsey etc. Anyone who thinks they fit the theme can get in touch too.

Track time - 3 laps per run on what is Europe's largest karting centre. Track is 1.5km per lap. And we will do as many runs as possible. In terms of value a rally sprint at the same venue is 100 euro and only does two laps each run.

Prizes are to be announced but again, yes. However it is very much a fun day for Minis and those who feel they don't have a 'show and shine' example are still welcome.

Mini Clubs are welcome to have a stand providing we have numbers early. As mentioned on the website clubs or individual owners can leave a message if they would like to come along on the day.

Traders will be confirmed in time but I have been in touch and like most of us will be engaged as interest continues to grow.

Numbers - we already have had entries in the first 24 hours and the event isn't to July. I hope to update the forum as this continues.

Finish will be by 5PM and gates will open EARLY for Mini owners and track entries.

I hope that helps. There is also a FAQ page on the website you might find useful.

Thanks for the questions and lots more to be added on the forum on the build up.

Another interesting entry just in as I type from a Mini Clubman owner with a Honda 2-litre engine and he is heading for the track.

Coming from a motoring journalist and photographer background we have our first piece of coverage lined up thanks to Car Sport who are already planning their 2018 Yearbook (published at the end of the year).

There is now a news snippet section at the bottom of the link below to keep people engaged who aren't on social media -

Latest post on the website: Just 24 hours in and the response - for a project we are putting our heart into - has been fantastic to see with cars already committed! Keep sharing and put July 15 in your diary. More details and requirements for track entries - MiniMagicEvents.com

Thanks to everyone on the forum for taking a look and Happy New Year to you all.

Hi there!

I compete in the Northern Ireland hillclimbs (although doubt I'll have time for that this season).

The day job is a reporter and photographer for many of the magazines and newspapers you might have read - mainly motor sport related.

My father competed in sprints, hills and had a go at rallycross while being involved in organising some clubman rally events.

My car - Austin Mini 1983, 1380cc and after some time on the track it might see the road soon. Many do it the other way around!

If anyone has any questions feel free to drop a message via the website and I will be happy to help.

One thing is for sure my heart is in it and, after some interesting news almost complete this evening, I'm looking forward to being able to add it to our next update.

I'm dissapointed to hear that but I am from Northern Ireland and perhaps that has caused some confusion. The forum is the only place I have received critism so far for trying something I have a passion for and placing my heart into so I guess there is room for it.

I've spent my life with events and motor sport.

As I've said I come from a motor sport background and happen to own a Mini - the two have come together in more recent times.

I've had the support from a prominent Mini specialist in Ireland and I will be able to say more on that in time.

The venue won't just allow anyone turn up and run an event - they too have a reputation to maintain.

Not sure what you want me to say but if you are interested in a day involving Minis come along. If you are sceptical and don't want to come that's disapointing but fine. We can't all want to see the same type of events.

Again I'm gutted that a Mini community isn't intrestred while individual owners have been. And indeed I've had magazines, sporting officials, Mini owners etc get in contact to congratulate me in taking something forward knowing my background.

If there is something in particular you are 'dubious' about get in touch and I'll be happy to answer.

Just to add I suspect because it is a Mini event rather than an all open track day that has caused the 'who is this?' case. If a track day was advertised it may not have been viewed the same.

I wouldn't take all the questions as a negative, if anything your getting plenty of feedback which at this early stage should be a positive. If you were well known in mini circles or known for organizing events there may be less questions but as said above you seem to have come out of nowhere. The philosophy of "Build the event and they will come" hasn't always worked with minis in Ireland, especially in July and August when there are so many other shows on. The last Track day by the IMOC was cancelled due to lack of numbers.
As an independent event you have the advantage of attracting members from all clubs as well as non club mini owners although you still haven't said what type of numbers you expect.
I wish you good luck with the event and hope to attend, maybe even on track.

Great to see someone taking the initiative to run an exclusive Mini event in Ireland, particularly one that gets Minis on track.

Not sure if I can make it yet, but might be there with the new 1275gt race car I'm working on.

Keep up the good work.

I had a look at the mini magic page just there and it all seems very amateur to be honest, I really don’t get what you’re trying to achieve, are you trying to get a new club going, is it going to be a one off, you seem very cagey about the questions being asked etc, all I got from your page was a mini driving out of a garage, and a page that looks like it was put together by a school kid, you came on blabbing about being a motorsports journalist or photographer and didn’t try to get to know any members or their cars etc, I’m still dubious and have a few questions, maybe I’ll go maybe I won’t

What company is actually running the event??
WillPromotion, never heard of you/them
Previous hosted events and feedback??
Event manager??
Public liability insurance??
Marshals??
Toilet facilities??
Food and drink ??
First aiders??
Emergency response vehicles??
Tow truck??
Signage??

And so on

This is not negativity look upon it as positive learning, people will want to ask these and more questions I’m sure so I’ll break the seal

I really thought the mini scene had changed for the better but in all honesty pretty much Dead, how many people actually post on here weekly, who even runs the club or this forum, there’s very little to even reference anymore, open your mouth with anything out of the ordinary and you’re frowned upon it seems, the elite my way or the highway, I think the only difference being I’m 45 now and freedom of speech is so easy and I’m so much more easygoing, TMF still has huge traffic everyday for a reason ...

I still love you all

On one hand you're saying the scene is dead, and on the other you're interrogating someone for trying to do something positive to help the scene!

Not interrogating anyone Neil I’d just like to know where this guy has come from all of a sudden, as you know I’ve recently bought the innocenti after near shy of a 10 year absence from minis, came back here to find the place all but dead, the same few here still swinging mickeys and miniresource dead and gone due to politics and greed, I dunno maybe social media is killing this place because the uk forums are still seeing huge traffic, if my questions above were answered properly I’d strongly think about going along, but the whole thing just feels very amateurish, and there’s an air of secrecy about it, there’s no familiar names or cars involved, I hope it works and I’ll watch this closely and I’ll keep an eye out for other events held by Will Promotions..

So it goes something like this

1 man
1 mini
Multiple aliases

minimagicevents.com
Will promotions
Neill Pics

William Neill is all of the above with no registered promotions company registered to or in any of the above names, i’d Love to see this event happening but in all seriousness I reckon it’s a kitchen table Saturday night Heineken infused dream I’m sorry to say,

It’s about time some of the older members of this forum and the old miniresource put their heads together and breathe a bit of life back into it, there’s a lot of nice cars hiding in sheds ....

And I’m sure Will,I,Am you’d play a blinder

I rang Pallas Karting today and they told me any dealings they’ve had with William Neill have been solely through Facebook messenger, they had no idea about numbers, traders , layout, track times etc , so where’s Will with the answers
