2007 R58 Mini Cooper Problem - Help please

Hope someone on here could give me some advice on my Mini.

The car starts ok and drives ok, but when coming to a stop at say a traffic lights the idle starts to go up and down struggling to stay up and then can cut out. Doesn't happen all the time but starting to be a concern, easy to avoid by putting food on the gas, but would like to find a solution. I had it hooked up to a computer and nothing was showing so that didn't really help.

I been reading this could be a common problem with the fuel pump, but replacements look expensive and would like to narrow it down.

A friend said if it is the fuel pump I could get a fuel pump upgrade that fits into the pump which is cheaper, but I can't find this online to try.

Any help appreciated.

When you had it hooked up to a computer was it a fault code reader or did it show live data of the engine running?

Think it was the fault code one has brought up a small thing which was eliminated.

Best to get a live readout if the fault code didn't cure it otherwise you spend money replacing parts you don't need.
