Thanks Woody.woody wrote:HIF 38 would be fine.
To be honest I'm not too happy sticking in this 998cc but 1275cc engines are quite dear to buy and then you'll still want to modify them.
I'm hoping to get 50-60bhp to the wheels from the 998cc.
From reading a few bits it seems to get the most out of it is HS4 carb (with correct needle), good manifold and exhaust system. which is basically a stage 1 kit. This is what I'm gonna fit first. Then once I get the engine running decent and bedded in again I'll take it out and further modification can be done. Some say if you change the cam for a mg metro or Sw5 and there was a couple diffferent heads you could choose to change to e.g stage 3, mg metro or 12G295. I suppose if I'm changing the cam i could change to roller rockers. I will also be putting in in an electronic distributor. Surely these modifications should get the atleast 50-60 BHP at the wheels for me ?
Has anyone any opinions on this ? it would be nice to see a quick 998cc mini on the road since the 1275 is getting that bit rare.
Would it be worth polishing and porting the new head as well ? I see a lot of guys who are looking for those extra bhp do that.
Also I heard a few guys installing a megajolt system. I don't fully understand what is is. From what I got from it, it was something to do with the ignition.
Any opinion and help on this would be great P.S 50-60BHP is only a starting figure if theres more to be got out of them please do tell

You need to get yourself a copy of David Vizard's Tuning BL's A-Series Engine

Re: Project Lexi
Hi guys,
Not a pile of updates with Lexi at the moment. Just waiting to send it off to get the front on and then paint.
Keeping things mini. Here is a picture of a project I did back in secondary school. It's a piston clock. About 5 lads in my. Lads in my class done them but they all used tractor Pistons out of the same tractor so this definitely was somethaing different. Has anyone else on here done anything like this ? Be nice to see a few bits.

Re: Project Lexi
Hello all,
Long time since an update. But here is one. Lexi has been sent way to get the front on and get a respray.
Back at college now so updates could be slow but hopefully I'll get through the work handy enough when Lexi comes back.
Today I decided to tint the Windows that will be going into Lexi. Here's a pic below

Re: Project Lexi
Most of the paint prep is done. It's had a layer of black primer and will be getting another layer or so then onto the painting. Some serious work getting done to it infairness. I'm looking forward to seeing the paint on her.
