Niall O'Sullivan - RIP

On behalf of the Irish Mini Owners Club, I'd like to extend my sympathies to the family of Niall O'Sullivan on his sudden passing last weekend. Those of you who were involved in the club in the late 90s will remember Niall as the owner of Top Car, the Cork-based Rover main dealer. Both Kevin Ring and I bought our '98 Cooper Sportspacks from him.

When I first approached Niall about starting the very first Mizen to Malin run from his premises back in 1999, he offered every help and obtained sponsorship from Rover Ireland for us. Top Car entered a Mini that year on MTM and Niall drove one of the recovery Land Rovers. We started both MTM 1999 and 2000 from Top Car and were always well looked after.

When news of the final Minis being built was announced, Niall asked me about buying a few of the last cars built and what colours/specs to go for. In the end he bought four of the 500, one of which is still in a main dealer in Mallow with only 83 miles on the clock!

Niall was a gas man, always willing to do a deal, and a good friend to the club, particularly to the Southern Region back in its early days. May he rest in peace. Funeral arrangements below.
