Hi
It's been ages since I've been on here. Mostly cause I was in Australia for the last 2.5 years. But I need to get my mini back from Clifden to Dublin. So I need to get it back my mate has a LWB transporter. So as we can't go over 750kg unbraked he reckons a car trailer will be over this. I've heard mixed things about A frames. But I was wonering if you guys know where I could rent a trailer where you lift the front wheels seems the best of both plus he can throw it in the back of the van when he's done. Any help much appreciated.

You can tow a trailer over 750kgs as long as the combined train weight of the car/van and trailer does not exceed 3500kgs.

There are a few places in Dublin that hire out trailers if you do a Google search - don't know of anywhere that hires out the dolly you have pictured though.

Cool Thanks. Was hoping I could find the small car dolly thing cause we could just throw it in the back of his van. For the trip to get the car

Not correct Neil. Says in rsa site. Car trailers differ. Depends on brakes on trailers and all that too. Check with your insurance company first to see if they would cover you

Can you point me in the direction of what you read on the RSA site? Have never come across anything specific to car transporters so would be good to get some clarity. Not sure why there would be different rules for transporting a car anyway!
