Re: Electric Mini Conversion
Some fantastic engineering on your project Kriss,I love the rear brake conversion and the home made door skin tool is a neat touch at a fraction of the cost of a purpose built one.
Real Clubmans have a square nose.Seriously.

Don’t mind the seats. They’ll be reupholstered, sometime in the future. Just wanted to see how it plays out. Now, I’m gonna need pair of those plastic pocket bins.

Re: Electric Mini Conversion
Well, they not aluminium. I made those from headrest rods actually ( I’m loosing headrests). You can get companion bins from bolt on bits uk. I got mine off the guy on adverts.ie. They came without seatbelts surrounds. Made my own. From aluminium.

Re: Electric Mini Conversion
Metro hubs.
Made an error thou. Apparently there are two types of ball joints with different taper sizes, and I, of course, got the wrong ones. Haven’t been thorough enough researching these. Did some reading now, and found out that I’m gonna need adjustable lower arms too, to get the camber right. So I guess, metro hubs will have to wait for now.

I use metro hubs with adjustable bottom arms, the ball joints you need are pre 1984 I think. The metro hubs also increase the track width a little. Depending on the wheels your using you may have to turn down the hump in the middle of the drive flange

Metro hub steering angles are different too, this'll kick you off on the research:

Re: Electric Mini Conversion
Interesting idea.Changing the height of the car changes the angle between hub and arm so I don't know if the initial angle will make any differance there. I use mini steering arms and have always been happy with the handling.

Re: Electric Mini Conversion
I have set of metro drive flanges woody.
Was wondering why they so thin. Now I know.
I thought of doing something like the guy in this link. Would be quite challenging with my equipment, but with the right tooling doable. I think. Thing is, tooling is expensive and metro hubs cost me 9 pounds. Anyway, if I were to spend serious money on hubs, I’d get the aluminium metro hub conversion, available off the shelf.

Re: Electric Mini Conversion
Hard to tell from the photo but I think there non vented disc hubs. On some wheels the center hole will fit over the raised section but on others it won't.
