Neil, are you going out in the track session or in the historics?

Is there anyone else going out on the track session?

Thanks to Darran and Martin for organising the club presence at the show today. I hadn't been for a few years and it seems it hasn't the same attraction as in the past. I'll say up front I thoroughly enjoyed it as I personally enjoy the racing and a friend competes in the pre-55 section but all day long there was a mass exodus at the end of each race. From chatting with a few lads, I came to these conclusions:

1. CCL is NOT a family day, it's brilliant for petrolheads but clashing with Father's Day means not every lad is going to get a pass;
2. The cost per person: Through the club we were fortunate to get free entry by adding our names to the list above but the ordinary Joe was charged €12.50 a skull, €25 a couple etc. Charging people to bring their cars along to display for everyone else's entertainment may be acceptable in Leinster but everywhere else in Ireland, exhibitors get in free and usually get a complimentary cuppa and sambo for their efforts;
3. The parade laps for attendees was the very last item on the day's schedule at 5pm - for all those who left early, it was too late in the day but for diehards like me, it was BRILLIANT!!! We had 75% of the track to ourselves for our 3 laps and the kids had a ball.

I hope the event continues but the organisers will have to seriously think about how to keep the public entertained or it will die a death which would be a great pity.
