My mum's 1275 GT Rally Car....

Post by stevemc »

Hi All,

This is a real long shot, however, I'm trying to find out if my late mother's (Carol McMaster) mini from the late 70s / early 80s still exists or if anyone knows of it's demise.

Her car was a Silver (i'm told Layland adopted Silver after seeing it) 1275 GT built from a shell by my father in the late 70s as a Group A / Group 1 rally car, which she competed in many of the Irish tarmac rallies in the late 70s / early 80s, including the 82 Circuit, Ulster etc.

It was sold circa 1986 and I believe it remained as a rally car for some time after that. It may have been painted Red at some point.

The registration number is KOI 7584.

I recognise that this is a long shot, but any information that anyone has would be most gratefully received.

Thank you in advance
Steve

Thanks Martin - I will give that a whirl. Do you know if the paid for report gives details of last registration etc?

Do you have any photos of the car from the 70's / 80's?

I had a look on http://rallyretro.com/photo/search but there was no sign of any there.

A word with a friendly policeman might tell you its current whereabouts.

Hi Dave - yes - I do have a picture, but only as it was when my mum had it, as I said, I think it was painted red after she sold it (this is backed up by the vehicle check). Either way, I'll add it in when I have posted it somewhere that I can then add in here as a URL...

Ref the policeman - good shout, I will give that a whirl...

Thanks all

You can enter the car reg into a number of different web site like dublin airport car park. I entered the reg and it showed that the car is still registered as a Red Austin mini.

So is still around

Cracking idea - thanks....

Out of interest, is anyone connected to any of the motor clubs in the north (mid Antrim for example), that may be another route of investigation for me...

Thanks again

Steve
