I bought a set of 4.5 x 12 Spi Alloys fitted with 165/60 x 12 Tyres, Would these upset the Speedo much ?

Just doing the maths, the 165/60 would be 1mph slower at 4000rpm in 4th gear.

Is there much difference height wise between the 145/70 and the 165/60 ?

Again doing the maths and assuming that both tyres were inflated to the same pressure, then the 145/70 would be 2.5mm taller than the 165/60.

Re: Correct Tyre Size ?
I need to replace the tyres on these rims, what size would be the best to go for 145/70x12 or 165/60x12 ?

Re: Correct Tyre Size ?
Minis are light cars with a small tyre footprint so the most important thing for grip is a good quality tyre, after that the wider the tyre the bigger the footprint.
Personally on my standard car I use 165/70 x12 Falkans. Not as good as yokoahamas in the rain but good in dry and damp conditions and longer lasting.

Re: Correct Tyre Size ?
when i bought my SPi it had 165's (falken) on the standard mini alloy rims. roadholding was good but the steering was slightly vague. recently changed to 145's and the steering became wonderfully sharp again - i haven't found any problems with roadholding, but i don't drive it that hard anymore.
i would imagine that its probably best not to go too far from factory spec
