MTM Classic

Post by zakgt »

Billy,

You have inspired me to try and get my 1968 Hornet ready for MTM next year. My 1998 did it twice, my 1978 GT once until I put diesel in it on the way home, so in the spirit of MTM Classic I am stating publicly my intention to have my hornet on the run. So, is there anymore project people out there, willing to commit to finishing a car wthin months rather than years (TMG) ? the older the better is the focus.

I admit my hornet will not be the prettiest car there, but hopeful mechanical reliable sound enough.

Note: do I qualify for a finishers prize if I use my 1998 seats ?

A, thanks for the vote of confidence but you're a little premature.

As requested by Kieran, I have submitted a proposal to the committee and hope to have a response in the next few weeks.

If the MTM Classic gets the official go-ahead, there will be a proper announcement.

It's with the committee now so here's hoping.........

Billy

PS Watched 2 videos yesterday, 1 of the original Mizen to Malin MTM99 and also watched the video of the trip to IMM98 in Switzerland. The Cracked Zak featured in both. A screening will have to be arranged.

Well I'll definately be there in my bro's '69 Hornet. Now the only condition is that he says I have to put a bit of tax on it, but as anyone who knows me will tell you, it sticks right in my gut paying road tax (But we won't go there). So I'll have to bite the bullet and get a bit of tax for it next year.
But not to worry, because I can't wait to do the MTM 2007-1 day event (providing it gets the go ahead that is).

Update: 24th July

Post by Billy »

Just to update you all on the status of next year's MTM.

Basically, the club's committee are waiting for the accounts of this year's event to be finalised and returned by the outgoing MTM committee. Once these accounts have been received and analysed, I will be making the final submission for MTM2007.

It's a slow process but hopefully will be worth the wait.

Billy

IMOC - The Classic Mini Choice

The above information is inaccurate. The accounts for MTM2006 are not due until AGM2007. What the delay is, John Lancaster the outgoing Treasurer has been on holiday and only returned this week. Billy had asked for access to the accounts from previous years just as John began his holiday. I am in the process of arranging Billy's request.

Billy please refrain from using "IMOC - The Classic Mini Choice". It is not the policy of the IMOC to use "word play" in such a manner.

those accounts might take a while the outgoing committee are very busy at the moment wink, wink

There is not one member of the 2006 IMOC committee who is not totally committed to their position of trust the MEMBERSHIP elected them to perform. If you feel anything to the contrary volunteer to perform their Committee position for the remainder of the term.

Right, here's the latest:

TMG and I have worked out a route and it will be entertaining with a good mix of National Roads and wiggly bits. Mizen Head and Malin Head are both involved and right now that's all we'll tell ye.

We have also sourced accommodation. However while I want to block book the digs, I can't without go ahead from the Committee as a deposit is required. Kieran, when do you expect I can access the requested MTM2006 figures?

Also who has the lists of MTM entries over the years? I would consider this information to be IMOC property and should be kept on file somewhere. Perhaps it is already. Ideally we want to invite all previous MTM entrants to take part in MTM2007.

Thumb-twiddling in Anticipation of White Smoke

Post by Billy »

Just bumping this topic up as another month is gone by with no further progress that I am aware of.

I still hope to run this event with the club's backing along with others who have agreed to help out but how long more do we need to wait for the IMOC committee to meet and make a decision? Do other events which charge for admission have to go through this drawn-out process or just the MTM?
