Hey all, its been far too long since I’ve been on here and I have been meaning to get my ass along to a meet, a run or ebven the autojumble and catch up with whats being going on but usual crap has kept me occupied, work, other cars, kids etc. and of course getting married.
Which is what brings me to my latest build. I had decided unbeknownst to my wife that I would be having a mini as our wedding car and started the search over 18months ago. (I got married in May).
I located a good base car in the UK which was a 1275gt in old English white, needed a decent bit of work but I was confident of getting it completed for the big day.
Everything went to plan, better condition interior fitted, brown door cards, WP steering wheel, 12” minisports, maniflow exhaust & LCB, gearbox rebuild and fitted, electronic ignition, all went well except the arches I ordered got damaged in the post and had to be sent back to minisport and didn’t get a replacement in time for the wedding but I have them in the garage to fit in the next few weeks.
I still have a list of things I will be completing including, fitting new arches, re-building the carb etc. but heres a few pics of how she was on the big day 

Nice work and congrats.

Lovely to see the wedding guests admiring the consistency of the door gap on the GT in the last pic. 8)

Looks great Mark, congrats on both counts!!

Also, another black and white GT  we'll have to swap numbers to avoid arriving wearing the same thing in future

Well lads an update and not a good one Im afraid

Came out the other morning to be greeted by this

Needless to say I was absolutely raging at first, followed closely by sorrow for my poor mini.
As you can see from the pics the little scrotes tried to pry the door open with a screwdriver or something, bent the door and shattered the window, they then proceeded to break the steering lock, cowling and indicator stalk... its the lumps out of the paint that's the worst in my eyes :-(

I have a hidden cut-off switch/immobiliser fitted so it wasn't going to start for them, and the worst part is I have a brand new alarm in the workshop been waiting to be fitted for the last 2 months (that will teach me to put things on the long finger).

Anyway good news is all covered by insurance and the quote has been issued and agreed, so Im in this weekend to get cracking on getting her back to looking her best, pics to follow once all is sorted

At least insurance is covering it and thanks to the kill switch then did not get it away.Maybe it was Maxi trying to be the only white GT in town, has he an alibi. :)

Yeah I'm just glad the damage wasn't as bad as it could have been...

From a few other car forums I'm on there appears to be a bit of a spike in the number of cars being stolen or attempted in the last few weeks...

Scumbags! Braindead in more ways than one, as they hadn't even choked the engine going by the pics.
Glad to hear the claim was straightforward.

:( :( ah man, what dickheads! good job on the killswitch. it could have been a lot worse.
theres a huge increase in the theft of minis, and classics in general in the UK at the moment
(just take a quick look on retrorides) so the more difficult we make it for the ****ers the better!

gutted, but glad to see you still have the car - i had one taken (a few years ago it has to be said) and they rolled it on the roof and kicked all the glass out of it when they finished lashing it around the campsite.

Gutted for you, least they didn't get her & you're covered on the insurance. Hopefully they get what they deserve some day

Finally a bit of an update :D

So I stripped all the broken and damaged bits out, Ignition has been rewired and new steering lock/barrel fitted, Along with a new cowling.
The drivers new glass is ordered and due to arrive tomorrow and next is to sort the passenger door out before sending off for painting.

Now as I was stuck waiting for the green tinted glass I decided to complete the conversion to 10" wheels as I had a nice set of split rims on Avons I thought would look the part, so heres a few pics...

Up next is a new set of arches to cover the new wheels, and get them sprayed when Im getting the door done
fit the Spax dampers and adjustable cones / knuckle joints I have waiting to go on her
And change from a mechanical fuel pump to a facet solid state

@kerryminiringo I agree its gotta be 10's on a slab front IMO

10s look great! Mines up in the garage with no engine and in need of front floor pans, finding it hard to get time to get it back together
