IMM 2007 UPDATE

Post by The Marcos Graveyard »

Here is the latest on the 2007 International Mini Meeting that I received from Tom Kost from Mini Clique Wessermarch yesterday.

At the International-Mini-Meeting in Poland last whit-sun a decision was made, what was wrong in our opinion.

At the chairman's-meeting we had some presentations of the clubs, who applied to host the IMM`s in 2008 and 2009. After that everybody expected that the host of the next IMM in Denmark will step forward and give us some information about their preparations for the meeting. But nobody appeared. Then Peter, another guy from Denmark and member of another club said that he will call them and ask, what happened. We decided to hold an emergency chairman's meeting on Sunday to decide what to do.

Here are the minutes from the meeting on Sunday:

Emergency Presidents Meeting 4th June 2006 11.30am
The meeting was chaired by Shaun Buckland from AMC
Minutes by Mad Lizzie
Votes counted and double checked by Mad Lizzie and Malgorzata of MKP
Peter from Denmark advised that had heard from IMM organisers and they
advised that the date of the meeting was going to be July 2007 and couldn't
be moved.
Presidents were not happy with this as they said this wasn't agreed at the
Presidents meeting last year [2005].
The question was then asked if Presidents were happy to go to Denmark at
the end of July and a vote was taken
31 Presidents voted against going to Denmark
10 Presidents voted for going to Denmark
It was then decided that Denmark would not be able to host the IMM 2007 as
voted by the Presidents present.
It was then asked what the Presidents wanted to do and someone asked if
Holland could host it a year earlier to which the response from Wouter de
Graaf was no.
Tom Kost from Mini-Clique Wesermarsch then stepped forward and said that he
would be able to do the meeting in 2007 as he has helped host 2 IMMs
(1990+1996), he said would need to check what location was available for the
Whit-sun dates (25th-27th May) and let everyone know. If he couldn't get
Whit-sun weekend, it would be a weekend either side of it.

Tom was asked if the New Mini would be allowed in to which he replied yes.

It was then put to the vote for Germany to host the IMM 2007
40 Presidents voted for Germany to host IMM2007
0 Presidents voted against
on the condition it was hosted at or within one week of Whit-sun. Tom Kost
said would get back to everyone at 6pm the same evening.

It was also decided that in future, in the rules, that the host club of the
following year's IMM needs to be present (see attached email for copy of
rules including the new rule).

Peter from Denmark was thanked for coming to the meeting and giving the
update (applause)

Emergency President Meeting at 6pm 4th June 2006
Tom Kost advised that would be Whit-sun weekend probably at Rodenkirchen as
the site was definitely available
He advised that the price would be 50 Euro approx
Tom Kost advised that he had not been able to contact the primary site at
Kaunitz and he would advise Presidents via e-mail when he found out which
site was to be used.
Mini Klub Polska confirmed that they would contact organisers of the Danish
IMM07 to tell them the news.

Meeting closed

After we returned home, there was a discussion in our Internet-forum about this theme.

Then we got the information, that the date was known from the beginning when the danish clubs applied for hosting the meeting. The presidents agreed with that date because there was no other club, who applied also. So in our opinion it was wrong what we did, when we decided to cancel the IMM in Denmark.

Now in Poland nobody remembered or everybody ignored this fact. Now we talked about this problem and i came to the opinion, that we are dividing the whole Mini-Scene, when we are not able to reverse this decision. There are a lot of people, who are not lucky with that date, but the danish people where happy to get and enjoyed in preparing it. And it would be a shame for the mini-scene, if we are not able to stay friends. After that discussion we decided to give it back to the danish clubs. I will give the key to them at the meeting in Braunschweig at the 1st July.

I have been asked, what is now with the big party i promised in Poland. It will happen, our club, the Mini-Clique-Wesermarsch, decided further, that we will host a meeting in Rodenkirchen at whit-sun 25th-27th May 2007. It will not be an „international meeting" but everybody is invited to participate in our „Big-Mini-Party". The site is available from Thursday to Tuesday, we will have live music, a spare parts market and other features, You will be informed about when the planning is done.

Now i can sleep well again and sorry for confusing You all .

Best regards

Tom

So, all is as it was and the plans for the family trip to Lego Land can be retrieved from the wastepaper basket.

Good job we hadn't started the T-shirts too early.

(how am I going to fit 4 people and a tent in a Marcos ???)

Not onlt the Tee Shirts, but I now have to rewrite our epic adventure for the mag. No one would have guessed an ending like this. Not a "who done it", but more of a "Who'll do it". Maybe I will keep them all hanging at the end , like I did wit hthe Austrian story.

Hey, I know what happened, I just want to hear what you think you know to see if you really know and then I'll know what you don't know you know, you know.
