just out of curiousity, seeing as that the car will be tax exempt (50 peryear) would it be the same story if i put in a bigger modern engine??
when i got my last insurance renewal quote i declared all the modifications to my car incuding a "bigger engine",
i was asked if it was a different engine, ie. civic or some other, so i asked why?
i was told that if the engine had been changed to that of a different manufacturer the car would have to be registered as a kit or custom car and would have to be reregistered to a new number plate!

i'd check all this out now before you start out on it, might save hassle down along the way
am gonna leave the turbo 1 litre engine i got for project nancy, just wanna get this one on the road and just keep it original besides the odd few mods... will check it out before i put the engine in nancy nonetheless cheers..

right, doddling along slowly but surely... decided to make a spit which has made life alot easier...

i improvised with wat stuff i had to make the spit ... lol
i used some old speaker stands which were lying in the attack, found some steel rings which i welded to some pipe and placed in side the speaker stands, the pipe going through the full car is an old grinding rail we made about 10 years ago for the bmx bikes and rollerblades, made a frame to connect to the back door hinge holes, and done the same at the front and connected bolts through the cone mounts of the subframe...
wasn;t too sure that the speaker stands would hold it but have done so far.. as a precaution i have a rope attached to the pipe going through the car and the hoist which is right above the car if it does go.... fingers crossed it wont

bets are still on, id say il get it on the road by end february but it just might not have clothes AKA paintjob on it...

while i was taking the rear subframe off, one of the heads broke (expecting all of them to break) but aS i tried taking the rest of the bolt out the nut (inside of subframe mount) decided to come loose and i ended up pushing the remaining bolt into the hole........ any ideas how to get it out and do the repair???
im thinking of cutting a small sqaure where the mount is take it out, make up another square and weld a nut onto the back of it....... <--- that be easiest/best way??

thought students were meant to be poor ?!

update, heres why i dont like filler....

Image

rear arch

Image

and the other side

Image

rear bottom corner (right) mixture of filler and fibreglass..

Image

rear bottom corner (left) mixture of filler and fibreglass..

Image

mega big annoying patch to fix the left corner plus door bottom repair....

on the upside its starting to look a bit better and more like something now... :)

Image

couple of layers of primer

Image

and a few layers of the free blue paint i was given in halfords...

have just the other bottom corner door to fix, put on the new valence and side panels and i can move onto underneath the front wings where the air vents are... not far to go really...

perfection takes time ... :P

got the rear door bottom corners repaired, new lip made up and put on, rear sprayed, and then put a good chunk of shutz on most of the underneath then ran out...

got the rear subframe tidied up just needs some paint, and also started cleaning the inner left front wing, luckily doesnt need any welding :)
