Did a bit of the route yesterday, pity I couldn't fit the Audi engine into a Mini, it returned 50.5 miles per gallon for the trip.

Anyone going to the IMOC AGM this Sunday can hand in their completed MTM entry form to me. I'll have accommodation details with me for any new entrants. Anyone who has already entered and not booked their accommodation, particularly at the Donegal end, would want to do so pronto as both the Malin Hotel and the nearest B&Bs are mostly full at this stage.

Sunday afternoon and myself and TMG are just back from Mizen Head. It was pretty wild down there this morning and the lighthouse wasn't open to visitors. What was worse was having TMG snoring away beside me over some fairly bumpy West Cork roads.

We now have the MTM route as good as finalised and the next step is to do a full test run in the next few weeks. To give the worst possible time, we'll probably take my '67 automatic 850, unless someone has a slower Mini.

Keep the entries coming.

Howarye.

I hiked and bussed it, last year, from Mizen to Malin and it took us a full week! Sounds like great fun though! Pity, I am miniless. :(

Anyway, if anyone is interested there is a fab wee hostel in Malin Head that I recommend. Real cosy and the folk who own it are a lovely, decent couple.

It might not be of any help (cause I don't know what your plans are!) but it's just a thought!

Bee, thanks for the feedback about the Malin Hostel. We have it already included on the accommodation list we are sending out with all MTM entries.

Even though you are Miniless at the moment, why not take part as a navigator for the weekend?

All the best,

This month's Irish Vintage Scene gives details of our MTM but also has a feature of another club's MTM adventures. You hear moanings about doing it in a Mini, this lot did it on Ferguson tractors over a full week!

Folks, we are in the last few days before the MTM closing date for entries.

From this weekend, TMG and I will be ordering the car plaques, finishers awards, finalising numbers with the 2 venues in Malin and Bantry and the scheduled stops along the route.

At this stage if you still intend to take part this year and haven't booked accommodation, you are going to struggle. Both hotels are long since fully booked and the reports coming back is that the closest B&Bs are full also.

Apparently there are still beds available in the Malin Hostel at 10 Euros for the night.

Don't try to stay too far away from Malin as it's only going to make your 6am Malin start even earlier.

Closer to May 25th, we will issue some useful information to entrants regarding stuff to bring etc.

If you have any questions, please contact us at mtm2007@irishminis.ie or call me at 087-4195640

We have arranged a breakdown service for MTM.

If your Mini breaks down and it's not easily fixed at the side of the road, we will have a transporter to winch up your car and bring it to the nearest safe farmer's yard or garage etc. Our backup is providing a crewcab pickup so that you and your passenger can be brought to the next stop.

Under no circumstances are we carrying a sick Mini from Donegal down to Cork. This is a service which must be available to all other entrants if required.

MTM is a test of the reliability of your Mini. Make sure it's properly serviced and roadworthy before you set off for Donegal.

 Ah no Billy ,I wouldn't expect Ye to transport my Mini from Donegal to Cork & back again to Ros.....[found a spot behind the MARCOS to tie it to while Neil was'nt looking] My mini is rearing to go at the moment, but its always good to have an alternative!

Just back from Mizen Head doing the final recce. The weather was perfect, the roads were practically empty, and the scenery was gorgeous. I brought an American who has been staying with us in the B&B for the past week. He has a BMW Mini Cooper S at home but I let him drive the '67 Mk1 Cooper for over 100 miles today and he's converted!!

Hopefully we will get similar weather on Saturday week.

Our guest's name is Jim Marlow and I've told him he's mentioned on the forum so "How do Jim". The lad got so into it, he bought a copy of both MiniWorld and MiniMag on the way home.

Brakes? It's all relative.

Sorry to hear you can't make it this year Ciaran. The good news however is that Conor Lally from Drogheda has taken your place with his '91 Mini.
