not too sure which is coming to the mtm, id love to get nancy done for it but im thinking of throwing a daihatsu 1 litre turbo in her first so might not get that done by then....
anywho, hand has healed up nicely and after fixing other peoples cars for the last while i finally got stuck in to clubby for an hour or so today :)
had to fix the welder first, which is now working perfectly, soooooo happy with that
got one of the floorwells welded in and am about to start chopping out the other side now...

cheers DMGT pm-d ya the other day...

got bit more done...

this is what engine bay looked like before

Image

Image

note that all the paint is gone on the left side of the engine bay.. surely the cause of that is clutch/brake fluid

rubbed down and then treated with kurust..... luckily it was only surface rust and nowhere needed patching..

Image

and then put a few coats of primer on

Image

i also started the rear valence and rear side valence thingys... gonna need a bit of patching there and the new panels can go on...
also finished of the floor of the spare wheel. This was where my welder decided to break on me few weeks ago and never got round to it cuz there was a pile of parts covering it..

Image

spare wheel still fits in nicely :D

you doing the same on your clubman dmgt???

got most of the back patched before can put on rear valence and side ones... but lost interest in the back so jumped back into the bay and sprayed it panther black, and decided to give the petrol tank a good clean and fresh paint also..

Image

its not the best paint job in the world but no runs so quite happy with it :)

Did you use the gun or tins for the engine bay? You can do the same on the inside while you at it. Ready for paint soon then?

Jozi wrote:Did you use the gun or tins for the engine bay? You can do the same on the inside while you at it. Ready for paint soon then?
used the gun... yea started taking all the stuff from the inside of it out, few bits still stuck to the car but shouldnt take long before its sprayed too..
The Marcos Graveyard wrote:You forgot to modify the bulkhead for the Turbo!!!!
no turbo for this Neil, its sticking with its original 1098 engine....
Nancy shall be receiving the turbo out of all of them and possibly wont have to modify the bulkhead if i can find the engine for it....

cheers for comments lads..
up against it?? im in two minds for engine conversion whther to put it into this one or the other mini...
but in back of my head im thinking ill keep it original for the sake of it.. i mean the car is 8 years older than me  was thought well '' respect your elders'' so may stick to it 8)
just out of curiousity, seeing as that the car will be tax exempt (50 peryear) would it be the same story if i put in a bigger modern engine??

had mustard out earlier on... talked more than anything, but wasnt such a bad thing as i wasnt in the mood for it at all today... we did however get a front subframe cleaned up and ready for some new paint.... :D

when i got my last insurance renewal quote i declared all the modifications to my car incuding a "bigger engine",
i was asked if it was a different engine, ie. civic or some other, so i asked why?
i was told that if the engine had been changed to that of a different manufacturer the car would have to be registered as a kit or custom car and would have to be reregistered to a new number plate!

i'd check all this out now before you start out on it, might save hassle down along the way
