Re: metro engine
the diff. needle does *NOT* explain how the idle is so poor. like i mentioned earlier, *any* needle can be made idle.... if you look at the graph below (thanks to the good guys at http://www.minitylamb.co.uk)
the diference between the two needles is not great until you get up to high acceleration or high revs. the idle/cruise part of the needle, typically the first 1/3 is very nearly the same, in fact the BDR is a tad leaner in parts. to me it does *NOT* explain those high readings at the NCT.

Re: metro engine
im pretty sure the jet and the small bimetallic gizmo is knackered?? apparently they get worn out after 55000 miles or so? ive ordered a BDP needle (minisport recommendation) and repair kit for it and ill borrow a gas analyzer and set it up properly!! i hope i haven't wasted money though???
the reading from the NCT were taken at 700 rpm!!

not heard of that before.... *but* im new to HIF's.rhys mate wrote:im pretty sure the jet and the small bimetallic gizmo is knackered?? apparently they get worn out after 55000 miles or so?
i'd have borrowed the analyser and set it up first, then decided if i needed to replace stuff. but, still cheaper than splashing out for a new carb!rhys mate wrote:ive ordered a BDP needle (minisport recommendation) and repair kit for it and ill borrow a gas analyzer and set it up properly!! i hope i haven't wasted money though??? the reading from the NCT were taken at 700 rpm!!

Re: metro engine
AFAIR the reading is taken at idle for your car... like you said,.. @ 700rpm.. *any* needle will do at that speed. all the ones we talked about will get u through at idle.
