Well, one thing i do know is that in my school up in donegal, the students drive into school, park in the school carpark, and drive about town during lunch and i dont recall ever hearing teachers giving out in fact they wave as they meet!

Technically he shouldnt be driving the car on UK plates over here, I think it is 24 hours you have to declare it to customs and cough up the VRT.
Garage insurance probably only covers the car for work purposes, not sure if garage insurance covers you to have passengers though, but that might be commercial insurance.

Well te VRT I will bow down to, and he seems to be covered with passegers and English plated cars as we have been stopped a fair few times on English bikes from work!

Nope, just a provisional. At this stage though it looks like I'l have a full by the time Stud will be on the road. It's been in a garage in Shannon close to two months now and still no sign of it

Depends what type of cover he has. I have Social Domestic and pleasure so it covers me 7 days 24 hours and for what ever i an using the car except the usual insurance exceptions like driving while drunk or wearing roller skates etc......

Insurance companies will insure you on a non Irish reg car, but if a car is owned by a resident in the state (irish citizen or not) and not by a temporary visitor in the country then the VRT has to be paid the next working day and insurance or not the car can be taken off you.
