Metro 1.1 engine found...

Post by just_st3v3n »

hey guys the other day i came accross an old metro sitting outside a farm, asked the owner what their plans were wit it besides her 2 dogs living in it...
she is willing to sell it.
it is a 1.1 litre 91 metro which belonged to her deceased aunty.
there is 47k miles on it.

now, me wanting a new engine i am just wondering does anyone know exactly what is involved in an engine swap??? what i have heard from day one sincew i got my mini a metro's engine should be a perfect fit and straight swap. is this true??
well i need to buy any new parts???

any advice much appreciated
steven

If that metro is the newer type when the k series engine then it wouldn't fit the mini. the metro your looking for is the older square shape then its more or less a straight swap with just a few changes.

No prob. I got a 89 1275 one owner metro with 69k on the clock on carzone and paid 400 euros for it. the best thing is i got to drive the car before i took the engine out so i know what is was like. So i have a good metro shell if any one wants it.

If you can't drive the engine before you buy, then expect at least that you will have to rebuild it.

A fully carbon fiber Mini Marcos shell weighs just 7.25kg.
