Well I took my first steps into the fully fledged world of mini ownership a few weeks ago. Im the proud owner of a 1990 austin 1275.after years of waiting and wanting...i finaly saw it through!!not driving at moment want to get a few bits done to it- rust etc. Own another car as well for work purposes.does anyone know or have any advice about insurance?

One good thing to do on your policy is insure your partner as a named driver (particularly if your partner is female). Research shows this can bring your policy down by 20 - 30%. So it's surprisingly worth doing even if your partner will never be driving it (I only begrudgingly give my missus the keys!). I insured my mini with AIB (underwritten by Hibernian) about 4 months ago and at the time they had a 10% off deal. But ring around, it's well worth it!

AXA did the insurance on my 1999 40 LE for 570, which I was quite happy with considering the previous year I'd been paying 890 on a 2 Litre Mondeo.
I rang up and dealt with them directly, which I find is the only way because brokers are usually more and a website like insure.ie would have quoted me about 1050 for the exact same insurance policy with AXA!

insurance
just to let you know my engine was changed before i bought it- now insurance company wants a garage report before i can be permanently insured! do a good search of all companies...
