Have a chat with your existing insurance company, see if they will do you a second car policy.
Classic insurance is a no go as the car isnt old enough yet.

AXA Drogheda like minis as second cars giving a good discount where other branches don't.

One good thing to do on your policy is insure your partner as a named driver (particularly if your partner is female). Research shows this can bring your policy down by 20 - 30%. So it's surprisingly worth doing even if your partner will never be driving it (I only begrudgingly give my missus the keys!). I insured my mini with AIB (underwritten by Hibernian) about 4 months ago and at the time they had a 10% off deal. But ring around, it's well worth it!

Good luck, and happy mini driving! 8)

AXA did the insurance on my 1999 40 LE for 570, which I was quite happy with considering the previous year I'd been paying 890 on a 2 Litre Mondeo.

I rang up and dealt with them directly, which I find is the only way because brokers are usually more and a website like insure.ie would have quoted me about 1050 for the exact same insurance policy with AXA!

I have to agree with Woody and AXA in Drogheda.Phoned their customer help line and got quoted 340 euro and went to the deck in Drogheda and got it for 260.Well worth the trip.
Real Clubmans have a square nose.Seriously.

I hate to say it Tim, but you have everything going against you, your male, young, no experience and you want to get insurance on a modified motor.

I'd expect your quotes to be comming in at about €3K-€5K tbh.

Just get out the golden pages and ring everyone who does motor insurance.

Got a better deal from AA than from AXA this year, they tried to hike up insurance by nearly 100 euro when renewal came around, not impressed!
