Rough Idle on 1994 Carb Mini

Hi I have just purchased a 1994 mini 35. It has two issues. A hunting idle and running on when ignition is switched off. Any ideas where I should start?

First and easiest thing to check is timing , checked with a timming light with vacumn pipe disconnected to make sure its not too advanced.Also check condition of vacumn pipe. Could have an air leak around carb

Your car should have three vacuum pipes and a vacuum stat which opens when the engine is warm. The vacuum pipe runs from the carb to the stat and than from the stat to the dizzy with a T off to the charcoal filter under the wing. You should disconnect the one onto the dizzy when checking timing.The stat is located on the thermostat housing and often one of the hose connections is broken.

Thank you for the reply. I with give that a go. I did pull a spark plug this morning and its white. That's a lean mixture right?

So the connector of the vacuum pipe is broken at the dizzy side. Where can I get a replacement.
