carburetor issue

Hi all,
New to the club & just joined the forum. Hi!
I have a quick question for you & looking for advice.
My mini is 1974 Austin & 998cc.

When I start the car it idles perfectly but as the car warms up the idle goes up too.
It gets to the point that i nearly don't need to touch the accelerator to drive away at lights!

Any ideas out there?

Have you topped up the oil in the carb dashpot?

Welcome to the club Adam.
You haven't mentioned the choke.
When the engine is cold it should require choke to bring the idle up to the right speed and than less choke as the engine heats up.If your car is idling ok cold without choke it will increase speed as the engine heats up.
The other thing would be an air leak on the inlet manifold that would expand as the engine heated up.

Hi Woody. Thanks for reply. I topped up the pot and no joy.
You might be onto something with the choke. When cold I only use a tiny bit of choke for maybe 2 seconds and it then runs perfectly. If I pull any more choke it kills it instead of bringing revs up?

Sorted it! In the end it was the tension spring on the throttle arm. James in Minifix threw another spring in and good to go. Thanks all for help and advice and hopefully bump into you soon. Adam
