MPI top steady bar bush replacement
Hi all, I'm going to have a go at doing the above, but as with every other job on the MPI, lack of room to wield a spanner is against me
. Does anybody have any tips on the way to go? The engine breather is in the way, but it's nearly impossible to reach the nut on the inside. I've been putting this job off till now, but the engine is getting rockier due to the worn bushes, so Any help would be great!

Like you said you have to remove the breather first. using a long extension socket remove the rear nut and washer ( use magnets) .Do not leave nut and washer sitting on the breather as you remove it as they may fall in the hole and then your in a whole lot of trouble. As soon as you remove the breather cover the hole with a clean cloth. With the breather removed access is a lot better although still tight. Again a socket on a long extension is best for the bulkhead end. While you have it off take the opertunity to clean the engine earth before refitting it.
Personally I like to fit a poly bush at the engine end and rubber at the bulkhead.

Thanks woody, it doesn't look like a socket would go over the nut given its closeness to the breather, maybe a really skinny one! I already got the bushes ages ago, they are the rover one piece ones.
