k series metro for parts
Been offered a k series metro.. Dunt know how they are set up .. But anyone know if there is much by way of useable parts in them... Like subframes .. Do they use them... And disc and drive shaft are they compatible with a series... Any advice lads cheers

Dont think there is much of any use Liam. I gave one away a few years ago. The only thing i remember taking off it was the handbrake lever grip.
There are quite a few posts on the Mini Forum of guys putting the K series into a mini but i know a guy up here that did it. He made his own frame but the main drawback was that he couldnt get the steering column to sit straight enough and he ended up with it low down, nearly had to sit in the back seat. IMHO there are better conversions out there.

Oh Thanks for that no Wasn't looking to do conversion... its prob 1100 not worth the hassle.. just wondering if they had subframes and Disc set ups that could be salvaged for a mini.. But Thanks for that

The k-series metro or Rover 100 was by all accounts a very good car with excellent ride properties thanks to the hydrogas suspension but as is the usual story of Rover it lacked proper investment, marketing and suffered from the previous models reputation. A total revision of the previous model there are no real components shared with minis unless you count the sensors it shares with an mpi. You could slot a vvti engine into it and make a real stonking sleeper. But anyway I'll post this link to what might of or should of for those who haven't seen it before.

Ok Thanks for Link Really interesting... don't know about you but as a fan of the mini the minki 1 looked more appealing than minki 2 Bmw did a Good job making the Mini Appeal To a Mass Market And While At First I didn't Like Them... I later bought a Diesel Just to See and Found Myself Becoming Very Fond of the Look and the Large Centre Dial Placement.. as a daily Runner was Great and you Still had a bit of Heritage... Had Mine with cooper stripes and When you Looked at it couldn't help but think of the original Mini... and isn't that how it should be...
I have an Allegro was going to put a 998 engine in it... But Mate is onto me to do a sleeper... I can see where he is coming from... any Ideas as to a very easy Swap and cheap donor car... No V8`s though LOL.. I want to use as a daily driver..

That k series metro would probably fit nicely into an Allegro.

It wasn't so much the engine I was thinking about more the running gear, once that's fitted put any k series engine you want in.

Oh right.. I suppose that would began idea.. Rovers are always easy money to pick up... What would u recommend as a donor car engine... They have such a bad rep... For blown gaskets etc...
