Help choosing loom

Post by stevie g »

I want to get a new wiring loom shipped this week but I'm having trouble trying to choose the right one!
My mini is a 1977 998.

Mini spares recommended this one http://www.minispares.com/product/Class ... o%20search

My issue is in the discription it says 1978-1979, I don't have reversing lights and my indicator is on the left

Someone else who did a nut and bolt restored a mini told me to get this one but it also doesn't match my car description.

I don't want to get the wrong one as if I need to return it I doubt they will take it after it's been dragged in and out of the car a few times?

The thing to watch for here is sometimes Irish model changeover comes later than UK changeover dates.
I think you may have a later indicator stalk from an '89 car which is interchangable with your proper stalk.
I would think your ignition switch is on the steering colum .
You have 2 speed wiper on a stalk,
Your main switches are almost square not rectangular.
Have you temp and oil gauges.

The AN124 may have some extra connections that you won't need but they won't be seen.
I would think the HAM2174 loom is for the earlier rectangular switches..
You could post up some pics of your dash and engine bay may help.

Yea I'll pop up some pics tomorrow, I'll be embarrassed to post pics of the engine bay!!
It's an original UK car, it has square rocker switches and it has smiths temp and oil pressure gauges either side of the speedo
I found out today the an124 won't be back in stock till August

Looks like somebody added a nice extra fusebox and some wiring properly wraped up, than somebody else added a lot of lose wiring.
If it was my car I would look at reinstating its original loom.Find out what the extra fuse do, they may be additional equipment( spots ,stereo) or they may be replacing the line fuses usually found above the air filter (good idea) or both.

Somebody may also have changed the stalks over for a later set with the indicators on the other side

There aren't any extras really, spots and a reversing light, no stereo.
