Help Removing Ring gear

Stripping an A series for rebuid
Cant split cases till I get the ring gear Flywheel off... Tried hitting with socket on bar behind Starter motor slot.. I heard you need a clutch puller and Hot Water..

Anyone know any tricks I don't have a clutch puller.. Can I presume the timing chain rank and cam gears do not need to be removed to split the housings.. I have the 3 little bolts removed behind the Crank gear so plate is not holding onto sump..

Think id have any luck with a blow torch heating the centre of the plate/shaft and tapping from behind with socket bar and lump hammer???

Thanks for that... The patience bit I don't have after a few hours but I'm generally determined so hope ill get it off...cheers appreciate response

Generally you need a flywheel puller and apply lots of pressure with it, then beat lumps out of the flywheel with a lump hammer (using a lump of wood between so as not to damage the flywheel) making sure to turn the flywheel occasionally,
When that doesn't work you'll need to apply heat to the flywheel but not the crank shaft, if the crank gets hot it'll expand too and make the job harder

Just make sure all bolts have been removed and when hitting the flywheel that you're on the engine side

Ya thanks for that... Went out cos I don't like being beat... But no avail.. My butane torch won't get hot enough.. I've done many engines clutches and gear boxes nut I have to say even though all went ok its been the biggest pig of a job.. I've never done 1 before and I've never had to remove as many nuts and bolts In all my life... Nightmare... I was prob 10 hrs at it now I was on my own... But I can do a ford engine and box in 2-3 hrs... Crazy. I think I will call mervin and see if he will take flywheel off and any bolts behind it... I've all other bolts off casing and head off so just have to lift block off gearbox... Thanks again..
Going to head to the bed for a few hrs before more madness tomorrow... Wish me luck ill need it

The flywheel could be fretted onto the crank.

Last time I did it I broke a pullers on it. Got a new one and wound it up as tight as I could with my breaker bar, left it for a week, tightening as much as I could each day. Then I heated it, then bate the doodoo out of it and eventually it popped off (pretty much just as I gave up).

The only other time I've seen anything seized so bad was a cv joint to a hub on a Renault, 15ton press didn't shift it, I had to change the hub and driveshaft.

They are a proper bitch to do. Altho other times I've done it in the car and it's popped off no bother lol.

Make sure you use the crank bolt to lever off and not the crank nose, also make sure you replace the crank bolt with a new one .

Some tips for removing a flywheel in there from the lads on here.

Mainly:
1. Make sure you have the retaining bolt removed.
2. blowtorch is your friend
3. get a gang to help crack it simultaneously!

I'd highly recommend a flywheel puller but make sure you use THICK washers.
