Hello everyone
I am currently restoring a 1985 mini mayfair I have the two clock binnacle in front of driver set up which I want to change to the 3 clock central binnacle (oval type) was just wondering what changes I would have to make will I have to do away with the upper padded dash rail altogether and what changes would I have to make to the wiring I am going to buy a complete new wiring loom for the car and would like to know before I changes I will have to make before I purchase

You just need the correct clocks, the extra wiring for the additional rev counter is just 2 wires. No changes needed for the dash rail either.

tmg He means a big centre speedo and 2 small clocks.
You don't need to change the loom ,it is possable and a lot easier to cut the plug off and connect to new clocks. If buying secondhand make sure you get all the warning light bulb holders in the clocks. When you remove the top dash rail you will have holes in the top rail mount and the easiest thing to do is cover the rail in leatheret like the early coopers. Normaly when these clocks were fitted the oil pressure take off from the engine replaces the oil pressure warning switch, if you want both you will need a T piece. There is a flasher unit behind the clocks which will have to be relocated.
