Respray / Painting

Post by noonzio1977 »

Hi Guys,

Need some help in relation to a respray. I've got a 1999 40th Anniversary and its rusted in the usual places, both doors and below / around both headlights. Rust isn't as bad as expected and I'm in the process of treating it myself (Vactan) and will then rebuild as necessary with fibre glass filler / fibreglass and will protect inside panels with Waxoil..

Question is what to do about getting the doors and wings resprayed. My Dad has the relevant spraying equipment but no spray booth (I understand the laquer will require heat drying). Rather than buy the paint myself and risk a dodgy finish (car is immaculate otherwise) I am contemplating getting a professional to do it.

So:

1. does anybody know a good Mini painter around the Wicklow area;

2. should I just get the doors and wings done or the whole car; and

3. does anybody know of rough costs for doors and wings / whole car considering all the prep work would have been done already (painter would NOT have to do anybody work).

Any help would be greatly appreciated . . because I really want to get this car out to some Mini days etc!!!

Thanks,

Greg

All I can suggest is that you contact Lloyd Hutchinson in Delgany, he rallies Minis, so must need bodywork and spraying from time to time, he should be able to set you in the right direction.
