Re: convert auto to manual
No, it's not a straightforward swap.
It can be done but it needs some re-engineering and is an expensive option.

Re: convert auto to manual
The Auto to Manual is as Dave said a job that requires a lot of engineering to get it to work, the auto engine has different oil galleries to the manual as well as a different crankshaft as it has the torque converter where the flywheel is on a manual engine.
It is a conversion that has been done in the past, I remember seeing a thread on an Australian Mini forum about it, but it was sort of a lets do it to prove it's possible thing rather than anything else.

Re: convert auto to manual
Cheers lads i was hoping it was just a straight swap but not worry ill hold out for a manual 1275
Re: convert auto to manual
Just swap over engine and box from a manual then you need to space the engine mounts as the auto frame is wide loop the starter interference switch. Job done
Re: convert auto to manual

Re: convert auto to manual
I think the lads above are wrong, as far as I know there was a big change in the later automatic gearbox to allow it take a standard block. I think Billy may have a later one that he could look .
