looking for advice

so looking for a bit of advice I have a nice 81 Austin auto. I'm thinking it would be nice to do something to it maybe a bit more power and a set 10x5s. I'm still learning about it and am not very tuned in to the technical stuff. I'm just wondering wat fo ye think my budget would be small at da minute or do I leave it original. Any advice would be appropriate thanks Ross

Don't have much experiance of automatics but I would think the high final drive would make them slugish so what you would need is more torque which would really require a new head with high lift rockers. Most people would suggest a stage 1 kit which will allow the engine to rev higher but I think you would need the head also.

Automatics can be modified the same as manual engines, but you will need to consider the forward clutch's in the auto box, some people have added an extra friction disc to help put the power through the system.
If going for more power you should also look into a disc conversion, assuming being an 81 it's on drums all round. Check with your insurance too.
As the auto requires more frequent oil changes you could also consider a manual engine swap.
