i second all the above, mentioned here and other places: the 2007MTM "the numb bum run" was a huge success and very enjoyable; full credit to the organisers for all their hard work. I dont think we as participants fully realise the extent of the wok that went into making it the success it was.
my first time and i *will* be back next year....

Folks,

Reading this and other sites this morning, it feels great to see all the positive feedback. Neil and I enjoyed putting MTM2007 together and thanks to you all who took part.

It was great to put faces to all the names and to see the variety of Minis who attended. Someone said to me that of all the 60-odd who made the trip, no 2 cars were identical. Where else would you get it?

MTM2007 was a back to basics event. We wanted to show that this event could be run without costing either participants or the IMOC a lot of money, that there was a real desire among classic Mini owners for a classic-only event, and that the spirit of the original MTM back in '99 was alive and well. Thanks to the 65 entries received and the feedback via forums, e-mails, and phone calls, I think we hit all the right buttons.

My own observations on MTM2007:

1. There was a great selection of Minis, from KMG's immaculate Mk2 to my own former Isopon test vehicle;
2. Regular regroupings along the route added to the social side of the event;
3. The 2-routebook formula worked well;
4. There are excellent driving roads east of the N17;
5. Nobody made an idiot of themselves either on the road or in the bar;
6. There is a genuine comradery among us classic enthusiasts.

Having spoken to the hotels and restaurant this morning, we will be very welcome back again next year.

Some people who deserve our thanks:

a. Maxi for designing the plaques;
b. John in the Malin Hotel, Annette in the West Lodge, and Jim in the Wild Goose;
c. Mags, Majella, Simon, and Andy for doing the sign-ins;
d. Johnny and Tom for providing the back-up service;
e. NI-Minis, the Donegal Mini Owners Club, MiniResource;

and finally,

f. All those of you who took part, thus ensuring that the IMOC MTM continues to be an important classic Mini event.

Take care,

Billy

I,d just like to say that this was by far and away the most enjoyable MTM that I have been on.The organisation was second to none and the choice of roads was varied and excellent.The Glen of Aherlow was brilliant,pity about the weather but I,m sure we will be back in finer days.As for the 7 mile straight,I,m glad I had hydro along there as some of the lads were complaining of seasickness over the humps and bumps.I can safely say that I had as much fun in my 850 as the boys with their 1380 had and it was great to drive in a convoy of at least 5 to 10 cars all day long,sometimes up to 20.A big thank you to Billy,Neil and to everyone who helped and took part in making this the best mini driving event of 2007.And as for you Billy,Im not sure I can ever look at you in the same light again after driving the lenght of the country with the hood down in that weather,people have been warned about your eratic behaviour and you may be taken away for a holiday in a nice soft room if there are any more outbreaks of this again. :lol: :lol:
Real Clubmans have a square nose.Seriously.

Many thanks to Billy and all the organisers from NI-Minis.

Was a great weekend and I commented a couple of times the difference between 07 and 02, it just seemed more friendly, more relaxed and better for socialising with the planned stops.

Very well organised and glad we went, we'll be back :)

Cheers

MTM 2007

Thanks Billy and Neil for a great weekend I haven’t been on a MTM since 2002 and this was by far a better event. I really enjoyed the event and my Car stood the test well. The formula for this MTM really worked and the 16 hours really flew. Great to
see all the 850s out in strength, long live the 850s.

Thanks from Milton and Malcolm

One of the side benefits of doing the run is that my car is running better than ever.
Interesting data on fuel economy:
Galway to Kilmacrennan, Donegal (includes about 80 miles of city driving)
39.2 mpg.
Kilmacrennan to Malin Head to Athlone: 43.9 mpg
Athlone to Mizen Head and back to Bantry: 48.2 mpg
Bantry to Galway via Moll's Gap and Kilarney on a banzai Sunday morning run: 41.0 mpg.

Thanks to the Organisers for a most enjoyable weekend. The format was well thought out, and the combination of the great and varied roads together with the social stops made us all feel part of the event.

It was an experiance to be in the jubilant crowd at Mizzen celebrating the completion of the run, with the Minis all lined up, job done.

Hope you all got home safe, and look forward to another year
