Hi all thank you for allowing me on to your forums, I'm new to the mini world so my knowledge of the car is limited, but we are eager to learn. I hope you may be able to help us.
My daughter purchased a 05 mini one D 1.4 dsl, originally came in from the UK via the north of Ireland. My buddy and me drove it down to Cork from up the country and fought all the way down as to who was to drive it next. What a fun car it put a smile from ear to ear. It was driving perfectly for a few weeks until I noticed the steering had got heavy. I topped up the power steering fluid but no change. Some people have suggested the power steering pump is gone ?. It is still driving but feels very clumsy.
I have tried sourcing a Haynes manual for a bit of help, but had no luck as they only cover the petrol ones up to 05-06 ish and the new 1.6 dsl from then on.
I have a number of questions.
What in your opinion might be wrong ?.
Where can I get or down load a good maintenance manual ?.
I'm led to believe the engine is from a Toyota Yaris 1.4 dsl ?, if it is the power steering pump will the one from the Toyota fit ?.
Thank you in advance for any help or advice you may be able to offer.
Haulie.

Re: Power steering problem.
From what I know, power steering pump failure is a very common problem in MINIs of that era.
Parts from main dealers are expensive, but reconditioned pumps are available and are cheaper if you part exchange your current pump. These guys sell them so give them a shout - http://driveshaft.ie/

If you find the part number on a website a reverse search should tell you what make and models it fits

Re: Power steering problem.
Thanks for that guys. I have heard some minis suffer from power steering pump failure but I did not know if the 1.4 D was included in that. I will give the drive shaft company a shout for a price and try the internet for a part number.
Thanks again. And if anyone can point me in the direction of a suitable manual for the 1.4 D I would be grateful.
