There is a unit ya can leave strapped in and the seat locks into it. When ya want ta take the baby seat it just unclips. no need to have seat belt wrapped around baby seat no fuss

Like the idea of that, but hoping for a little less costly solution. I got a seatbelt extender but wasnt the right one & wouldnt work for the back anyway.rosssmall wrote:There is a unit ya can leave strapped in and the seat locks into it. Anyone tried one of these bases in a Mini?

Re: Fitting a Baby seat?
Hi CB Phil I have managed to put a seat into mine. It was a maxi cosy one and was'nt an isofix one. I managed to put it in using the both rear seat belts and was solid as a rock did'nt budge at all. What seat are you trying to fit?

I have two child seats in the back. Ya are so close to the back ya don't need to beside the baby. I have my child in the mini since a month old.I had to fit two seat belts to my 81.

How did you manage to secure them, the rear belts especially I found far too short & cant get a belt extender to suit?

Re: Fitting a Baby seat?
Front belts may not work in the rear because of the mounting angle.
Securon do aftermarket belts which can be set at different angles. There are two inertia types available for the mini rear, a 3 point and a 4 point ( 97 on) . I have both types at the garage and I can measure them later in the week if it helps.

Re: Fitting a Baby seat?
Cheers Woody, lucky you posted there, I was just looking @ a front belt on ebay to stick in the rear. I reckon a belt of similar lenght t the front should work as the points are closer together, making the belt stretch that bit further. I have ordered an extender it says is for a '97 Cooper, so should fit my '97 Mayfair & @ least then he can be in the front & which ever of us is in the back car reach over to him, if it fits.....
Still would like some longer rear belts. Hopefully when hes old enuf for forward facing seats it should make it easier too

Re: Fitting a Baby seat?
Bit of an update,
I managed to get an extender off ebay for the front which fits
bit more expensive than the generic ones, but this one works (the other didnt!) so its worth it.
This is the one in case anyone else is looking http://www.ebay.ie/itm/161217882182?ssP ... 1439.l2649
Will do the trick till he can go in a forward facing seat
