I took my mini for the NTC test today. She failed on a few simple things like worn ball joints but the biggest problem was that they couldn't find a VIN number. I explained that the scuttle panel had been replaced but they produced a form that had to be signed by a Garda certifying that this was the same car as was recorded in the log book. Off I went to the Gardaí but they informed me that they are no longer allowed to do that. I asked what do I do. They answered that they didn't know but a trip to the PSV officer might be helpful. Can anyone advise me?
I'm off to Mizen on Saturday.

Re: VIN problem
The number can be stamped on your new pannel it will chip the paint but just brush some over as it won't b seen if u get the stamps just clamp a bit of 3-4 mm steel under the pannel and you should be good to go
