Car is:
1994 Sprite with front stripped, engine, and subframe removed.
Question is:
Can I remove my steering rack without removing the steering column and therefore avoid messing with trying to get the shear bolts out?
If so, do I just pop it off at the joint? Is there anything in there I am liable to loose or break, and anything circlip etc that I will have to replace when refitting?
The Haynes manual gives instructions on removing it by removing the column, however they are assuming the engine and subframe are still in the car.
Thanks,
Dave.

just make sur you have the pinch bolt at the bottom of the column off and i'd say its ok to take the rack off then

Re: Removing Steering rack?
yes you can, as mentioned above about the pinch-bolt.. i'd imagine that getting it back in safely will be more difficult than dealing with the shear bolt though. a hacksaw and vize-grips usually sorts the shear bolts for me.

Signature still awaiting top-coat and lacquer....

the shear bolts are easy to deal with really, just cut a slot in the head and use a screw driver
