Hi im New here

Post by v-tec_lad »

Hey guys, im new to the site here , i joined up here because ive had a few minis in the past, i am now building a full on mini build with no expense spared this will be the best mini i will ever had,

im very in japanese cars and fabrication so my skills will overcome the task ahead as minis are alot easier to build than full on japanese race cars.

anyway i hope this is a good site as many forums are full of **** ,
but to kick things off, ive started my build with buying some 10inch wheels and cooper s discs and calipers and shafts i had a mini specilist from the OMIMOC , what a total gent of a man and his own minis are out of this world and finished with such a high standard. he was kind to help me during my build

Just hope mine come out as good as his..

heres a link to his site

http://www.omimoc.com/

anyway. that is all for now. i shall make a build thread in the next while.!
Peace out guys! :D

Welcome to the forum :D
Hopefully you'll find any of the information you might need here, always someone around to help,

I do have to say though that while the lad in the OMIMOC might have done some good work (I don't know as I've never seen any) his attitude stinks to high heaven!
We all love our minis dearly and for this fella who won't even have the good grace to introduce himself as who he is to come along and verbally bash what seems like every mini in the IMOC is just downright rude and arrogant!
some of the guys on here don't have any mechanical knowledge at all but yet they make the effort which in my book is what makes a mini your own, if he was such a true gent he'd know this and he'd stop being such an idiot!

sorry, rant off.

Hey Vtec Lad.

Welcome to the site. :)

Judging by your name and mention of jap influence I assume you're dropping in a vtec? make sure you throw up a build thread in the projects section. (include lots of pictures! :P)

I like the way you've started though...buying wheels and shafts...really working from the ground up. :)

You'll find a wealth of information here I guarantee it!

As for the one man mini club, i've never met him and he's never met me as far as I know.

I'd just advise build your mini to your own standard. Not someone elses. You will know yourself what was done well/ok/perfect/brutal and you are the one that has to live with it at the end of the day. Some parts of my own that I will definitely be getting back to at some stage as I'm not totally happy with it! :)

We are all our own worst and best critics.

Wish you the best with the build.

Hi Stephen . yes of course Stephen , big into Honda engines, Sr20det's from nissans etc etc. for this mini build we're hoping to figure out from a selection of engines to use,, including the R1 engine, 13b rotary turbo ,Honda k24 vtec engine or k20 or a b series just to keep it old skool and use a good A series Mini engine fully built , but with the sleeper look.

I have a background in photography and media myself so lots of pictures will come and maybe even a film of the build..
the standards of this car will be to over perfection (ie. I got a stone chip on my road going type r civic and the next day I had it rubbed down and re-painted)

To the Comments of MMurfree there, well forums are forums and Opinions are entitled to everyone wheather its criticism or not. to your comment !"some of the guys on here don't have any mechanical knowledge at all but yet they make the effort which in my book is what makes a mini your own" Well id rather have someone who talks straight and honest instead of behind your back and under there breath when your not there ! in My own Opinion I personally think a car shouldn't be half built wheather its lack of expierence or not. it should be done to a perfection standard and push the boundaries to make the level of art and craft new in the mini world.... but im not here to criticise anyones work myself. im here enjoy minis after years of not having them to persue other motorsports.

I went to look at 5 or 6 minis in the course of a month and the descriptions that owners gave me on the phone were "theres a small bit of rust here and there and needs nothing, but when you went to look there was holes in floors the size of my hands, doors falling off , rotten to a understatement... and everyone had the attitude of OMIMOC saying how it is . there would be less of this secret whispers and BS in the community when purchasing... in the years of buying cars off ebay everycar has been like its description? but irish owners think its ok to mislead a buyer. I think that's the sort of problems arise from not talking straight. IMO!

anyway as I said im here to show a build ... but it could take years to make it perfect as I wont be happy until its flawless. ill be building from the entire ground up. better than the day it came out of the factory... :)

Anyway guys Peace out... thanks for kinda words. and ill see yee soon with some pics and info !!!
