1996 mini cooper air bag

Post by minivinnie »

just a quick one,is there anyone/anywhere i can get a hold of an air bag diagram for the above?
ive a problem with the system, the light stays on.
i did a fault scan with a brain bee touchscreen diag and had to go through a rover 400 to get the fault, which came up with a high resistance in the drivers airbag,i did the usual checks but there seems to be continuity between the red and yellow wires that go to the squib from the airbag ecu under (disconnected from the ecu)the rear seat which leads me to think there is a short between the two.
so just wondering if there is any body that can shed some light on the situation before i go tracing the 2 wires right back to the ecu.
also i did a continuity check on the squib/clock spring and all seem to be ok there to.

Low resistance would be short circuit, high resistance could be a bad connection. SRS loom is separate from main loom and is bright yellow. The loom goes from the ecu under the passenger seat and up behind the glovebox. The rotary coupler on the steering colum is a known weak link.

i got this sorted today after, checked all connections, and relieved them all from any static build up,ignition on(didnt have to clear the fault) and light goes on and off as it should.
