Welcome to the Irish Mini Owners Club forum. Celebrating 30 years of the Irish Mini Owners Club, 60 years of the Mini, 50 years of the Clubman and 20 years of our flagship event MTM
I think you mean Monday Keith, but we'll be lucky to be on the way by midday.
After sitting on a boat for 20 hours anybody looking at maps or having a slash will be left behind
8 Minis left Cherbourg this morning. Woody, KMG,Keith & Derek made it to Gien, Conboys, Mulqueens, & Mealiffs in Chateaudun. Dan & Lena last seen heading for Orleans. Rang Dan's mobile but someone in Abbeyfeale answered it!
reached the italian riviera with all 8 cars & crews more or less intact. some had snow today, everybody had rain: seems the wet weather is close on our heels all the way from Rosslare. - IMM meet formally starts tomorrow when the campsite opens.
Had a great imm. Walked Grand Prix track Wednesday, spent Thursday on nice beach, was in pits today and now having a pint on track in red bull bar listening to minestery of sound. Keeps getting better
and the fuel stats are just in... Euro 398.04 - 239.55 litres - 3.215 km - 13.42 km/l or 38mpg -
one fuse blown, one unexplained cut out at speed on autoroute, solved by pulling in and looking under bonnet while scratching head... then it started again! - some damp related problems with the rear fog-light, a speedo that got very excited, went off the scale a few times and now reads 20kph when parked (!) and soft suspensions springs that were too soft - oh yes and the "good" shocks i fitted for the trip aren't. they never were.
We are all back . Great trip
I picked up a puncture in Normandy at the D Day beaches .
Tom Maeliff broke a rear Hilo bar near Eniscorty lucky Geoffrey bought a new set at IMM for Molly .
41 mpg on way over
39 mpg on way back .
What a trip so far.
Highlight of the trip down was the mount cinas pass through the snow. Imm got off to a shaky start but then the sun came out and the party started. On Saturday we went out for a Big Mac but instead ended up driving in the Mille Miglia for 20miles before finding somewhere to pull in and watch the rest go by, craziest thing I have ever seen on public roads. After the imm we hit the Ferrari museum before heading for Monte Carlo . Found a small villa to stay in were every morning we enjoyed breakfast looking at two Pucks which we obiviously tried to buy. We walked the Grand Prix track on Wednesday and on Friday we managed to get into pit lane. Took Thursday off to lie on the beach in Nice, sunshine all week. Saturday saw qualifying but we missed the race Sunday as we had to drop dave to the airport so we headed for Cannes for the film festival. Stumbled into the premier of Zulu and spent couple of hours star watching on the red carpet with Speilberg, Kidman, Orlando, gooding jr and others were too old to recognise . Drove over the French alps today, amazing scenery ,found a trio of minis including an innocent I, and are now in Saint Etienne . Heading towards Le Mans next unless we get stuck in a vineyard.
