Well I haven't posted here in a while but thanks to Colin and Joe whyte my mini now has a working 998 engine so im over the moon now, however there's an issue with the distributor whereby oil is coming back up and out. Joe took the distributor apart and it all looked fine on the inside but theres a fair amount of oil being left behind. Im wondering if anybody can tell me why and if its a simple fix and if not where I could pick one up handy anywhere around munster.
Its an electric distributor and the numbers on it read ;

O ring is perfect on the shaft of the distributor and no oil appearing anywhere else.kerryminigringo wrote:Is the O ring intact on the shaft of the distributor,is oil coming out anywhere else like the dip stick?
The oil isn't coming out around the distributor shaft but rather going up through it and coming out of the body of the distributor and around the vacuum advance.

Well joe, I took out the spring assembly and sanded down the metal cup which was fairly cut to bits but no luck on stopping that leak unfortunately. I might take it out again and have another look over the weekend.
