1993 Mini Heart Transplant!

Post by Welder »

Can anyone tell me please will a 1989 1275cc engine fit straight into a 1993 Mini Mayfair that had a 1275cc engine without any changes to the wiring loom etc. Will the starter from the 1993 fit the older engine as previous projects have shown that modifications can be needed :-) Many thanks

Mini Vans never left the factory with 1275s. Is it from something else?

Metro Van engine ?

If you get the engine number it will be possible to decipher it.

Ya I presume it must be a metro or a maestro van.i am awaiting a photo and that should tell all. Does the the metro engine and box fit straight in?

Should be a straight swap 8)

Get all the ancillaries and you will have no problems.

Different beast altogether.

The Maestro version of the engine is turned round the opposite way to the Mini engine and as you have said uses a Volkswagen gearbox mounted on the side. Whole different kettle of fish. :| :(
