Always use Axle Stands

Post by Billy »

A tragic accident locally last night where a man was working underneath his van when the jack collapsed and the van crushed and killed him. Don't ever be silly enough to think that a jack on its own is safe enough while you work under a car. ALWAYS use axle stands. They're cheap enough.

second that, and make damn sure they are on solid ground... axle stands on gravel are no good at all.

Very sorry to hear that.
Same thing happened to a 17 year old couple of miles away a few years ago

That is sad to hear. Its the one thing I hate doing and it is working under the car. Only a few weeks ago I was servicing the Astra. I used axle stands as I never trust the jack and just as well too when I was finished and was letting down the jack, the jack collapsed. To think that is where my head was a few minutes earlier.
Better safe than sorry
If it isn’t broke then it’s not a Mini
