The RIAC National Classic Car Show 9th. & 10th. Feb 2013
Hi Everyone,
The Irish Mini Owners Club has been invited to participate in the first ever National Classic Car Show in the RDS in Dublin on Sat 9th. & Sun 10th. February 2013.
We have been allocated a club stand and we will need 4 Minis only. The greater variation the better so vans, saloons, pickups, clubmans, elfs, hornets & estate cars are welcome from 1959 to 2001.
Cars must be of a show standard. The cars will be have to be left in the RDS from Friday evening 8th. Feb until Sunday evening 10th. Feb.
There will be security at all times at the venue. This is a huge publicity opportunity for the IMOC.
Each Mini owner that is picked will get a complimentary pass for the show and must be available to help man the IMOC stand over the weekend.
This is open to Paid Up Club Members Only and anyone who puts their name down for this should realise that their car will be on show all day Saturday and Sunday with visitors able to walk around & view them.
Club members who are lucky enough to have their car picked will need to give a 2 paragraph history about their car which will be displayed at the stand. This will be needed by the end of next week.
More information on the show is available by logging onto http://www.classiccarshow.ie
The IMOC Committee will have the final say as to the cars that will be chosen.
Can we start a list below of name & type of car below as we need to make a decision by next Wed 5th. December.

Re: The RIAC National Classic Car Show 9th. & 10th. Feb 2013
I met Bob Montgomery, chief organiser of the show at a car event in Cork last night and he made it clear that the organisers are keen to show Ireland's motoring heritage at the RIAC National Classic Car Show and would be especially keen for cars made in Ireland to be central to the display. I won't be offering any of my Irish-built Minis as I don't feel they're good enough for display at the moment (though maybe in 2014!)

I have two Minis, a Red 1991 Mayfair that I've had at the shows, and we've just finished building a 1989 1275 Mini - its immaculate all round.

Re: The RIAC National Classic Car Show 9th. & 10th. Feb 2013
Firstly a big thank you to all those who offered their cars for this event.
It was a hugely difficult decision that eventually went to a vote by the IMOC Committee.
The 4 lucky owners have been notified today and all will be revealed in due course.
A reserve list will be kept from the above names just incase any of the 4 cars picked cant make the weekend.
Again thanks to all who put their names forward. Sorry we couldnt include everyone but were limited by the event orgainisers.

Out of interest Darran what cars were chosen to represent the club. I see their fb has a car each day from different clubs, nothing from ours yet. Bigger secret than the budget lol
