Time to get my hands dirty! 78 Mini with the above problems. Any ideas?

Wiper Parking switch gone, replace.

Check inline fuse under the panel between the wipers for your indicator problem.

For your indicators make sure the hazard switch is fully off.

Thanks guys. Hazard switch is defo fully off. They flash ok when its used. Have to look under a lot of tape to try and find the inline fuse!

Flasher relay could be sticking. when driving the vibrations (and shaking) caused by the car probably give it enough of a "jolt" to make it work.
Do you have a central speedo ? If so the relay is probably behind or slightly underneath the speedo cowling.
