Positive phone call from the blaster. "Not that rusty at all!" He'll be etch priming it for me and I should be able to collect it tomorrow evening or Saturday.
Can't wait. 28 weeks to the IMM.

So Billy,
This blaster guy was, just around the corner, cheap and found no rust.
Maybe you or he should have gone to specsavers !!!

Re: Clubman Estate Barn Find - Co. Galway
Got the call this morning that the Clubby was ready for priming so I legged over to see it pre-primer.
As the rear wheelwell is being cut out and replaced, I told Tom not to bother blasting it
Even the petrol tank turned out rosy
So this afternoon I got another call to say that it was all primed and ready for collecting so now it's safely tucked up at home
The work was done by Tom Quinlan in Castletownroche, Co. Cork who has recently started the business and is keen to work with Minis. The wheels were removed and the complete underneath of the car were blasted and etchprimed. It was my first time having a car blasted and there definitely isn't a spot of rust left on the car. Tom is away tomorrow for a week's holidays. His website is http://munstersandblasting.com/contact.html

Danny, it was bead not soda as soda doesn't shift rust.

Half-knackered old twin-axle transporter swapped for bits with Johnny Murphy (thanks Johnny). Replacement single-axle transporter with knackered tyres swapped for bits with KMG (thanks KMG).
Early morning start on Saturday morning with Eamospud.

Re: Clubman Estate Barn Find - Co. Galway
No progress this side of 2012 as it's in a queue at the panelbeater's. Will be ordering some bits after Christmas. I spoke to my friend in Galway yesterday who gave me the car and he couldn't believe that I intended to bring it to Italy next May. Mind you, there are plenty on this forum who probably think the same, and they could be right but you need a deadline.
